Open Studio

Designed especially for families and young children to come enjoy arts and crafts during non regimented classroom hours. Our open studio hours provide plenty of creativity and flexibility of projects. Children will have access to a wide range of inspiring materials and a variety of ways to explore them. From unlimited access to all the glitter, pom pom, sequins and more, children can choose from our creative menu of crafts available, or seasonally themed projects. Come create something special for a loved one or for yourself! Studio staff does not offer formal art instruction; we encourage creative thinking, provide gentle guidance and offer support as needed. Open studio is offered every Friday & Sunday from 2 pm – 5 pm (unless we have a specialty event noted on our calendar), and ongoing during weekdays when classes are not in session. Please check online calendar as our schedule changes based on our class schedule. Studio is closed on Mondays. Open Studio cost is $12 per child which gives you access to all of our supplies, and from there on add a project of your choice. Project costs vary from $5 – $35. Options include, ceramic painting, canvas painting, jewelry making, sensory activities, stuff & fluff, seasonally changing crafts and more!

Messy Toddler Tuesdays; April 12 – May 10: (Ages 2 – 4 yrs) 10:15 am – 11:05 am

Our 5-week Spring session is designed especially for children ages 2 – 4 years (with guardian) to explore a variety of age-appropriate activities in a safe, fun and creative environment. Children will be introduced to the elements of art by learning shapes, color recognition, color mixing and texture while experimenting with new and engaging materials. In this multi-sensory experience, your toddler will learn to develop fine motor skills by painting, drawing, squeezing glue, stringing beads, painting on an easel, cutting, collaging, stamping, and even using clay. Each class includes a guided take home craft project along with a story & sensory activity.

Ooey Gooey Sensory Fridays; (No Class Scheduled Currently)

In this multi-sensory art class, your child will be exposed to activities that focus on the 5 senses. Something smelly, something that tastes good, or feels interesting on our hands. Uniquely tactile, scented, or activities with sound are the primary focus for our sensory art playgroup. Each week, we will set up an engaging group of toddler- friendly activities for open play and exploration. Your toddler will begin to understand that different materials affect their senses in a variety of ways. Each playgroup will include a gently guided art process for you and your baby to participate in with the group.

After School Resin & Jewelry Class (Ages 9 -12)
Tuesdays, January 18 – March 8
4 pm – 5:30 pm

Resin is an amazing art medium that is so much fun to play with! In this course you will learn how to correctly mix and tint your resin and create beautiful wearable and other fun art pieces. We will use a number of options to tint including Acrylic paints, Ink, and powered pigments. We will also use sprinkles and glitter to add to our resin art. You will see the process step by step in REAL TIME and create some terrific one of a kind, unique jewelry, hair clips, and keychains etc.

Drawing Robotic Animals (Ages 11+)
Tuesdays, September 21 – November 16 (no class October 12)
5 pm – 6:30 pm

Students will sketch animals using basic shapes and shading techniques. They will then add muscle and tone along with gears and bolts to make their animals futuristic looking. Students will learn art concepts including soft strokes, values, proportions, shading and blending. This class is intended for our more mature artists interested in learning advanced drawing techniques.

After School Mixed Media Class (Ages 7 -10)
Wednesdays (No Class Currently Scheduled)

In this mixed media after school art class, we’ll explore the art of diorama making! Miniature art may be small in size, but it often makes a big impression. Artists will start by designing and assembling a model dream room. We’ll also paint, collage, cut, and sculpt to create tiny worlds inspired by artists like Joseph Cornell, Kara Walker, and Louise Nevelson.

Fantasy Drawing – Mythical Creatures (Ages 9 -11)
Thursdays, September 23 – November 11

In this wonderful 8 week drawing class, children will be introduced to Mythical Creatures and How to Draw Them! Each week, students will learn about a new mythical creature as they draw them step-by-step with the instructor. We will then learn to color and shade our drawings using color pencils and watercolors.

Our Sunday Crafternoons and Specialty Workshops are designed just for this! Seasonally, we will offer either family workshops (child and caregiver) or drop off afternoons where your child can create a selected project under the guidance and expertise from one of our art instructors. Please check our online calendar frequently as we add workshop every month. These are typically on Sundays from 2 pm – 4 pm. Mom’s night out workshops are offered on select Wednesdays or Thursdays from 7:30 pm – 9:00 pm. Adult workshops are BYOB. Reservations are required for all workshops.

Your baby will begin to understand that different materials affect their senses in a variety of ways. We’ll talk about sensory and language development, and you’ll come away with ideas for simple activities to set up for your child at home… and make new friends! Each playgroup will include a gently guided art process for you and your baby to participate in with the group.

Handbuilding in Clay – Food Imposters (Ages 9 -11)

Hand building is a way to work with clay without using the pottery wheel – instead we will use techniques with coils, slabs or pinching the clay. In this dynamic 8-week session, artists will make clay foods that are so real; you’ll almost be able to taste them! Students will get to create a variety of foods to sculpt and dream about during this food for thought class. We will use equipment like rolling pins and slab rollers to start the process, using more clay to embellish and decorate our work. Pieces will not be fired, but spray glazed instead. Last class will end in a pizza party! Cost includes all materials.

We will be hosting each class with safety precautions in place due to COVID-19. Classes are limited to 8 students with social distancing, sanitizing all tools, materials and classroom before and after each class. Students are required to sanitize hands prior to entering class and face masks are mandatory at this time.

Intro to Hand Building will be an opportunity for students to work with clay as an art medium. Mixed Media Art Class (Grades K – 2)

Our next 8 week session is designed for students to develop their artistic skills by engaging in the creative process from planning to creation. This workshop introduces emerging artists to a variety of mixed media and encourages self expression through the development and practice of art fundamentals. Artists meet weekly at La Dee Da to create both individual and collaborative art projects. Projects use a variety of mixed media and techniques like mosaics, papier mache, acrylic canvas painting, nail string art, clay and a whole lot more. Cost includes all materials.

All Things Origami (Grades 3 – 5)
Thursdays, March 11 – May 6 (no class April 8, Spring Break)
4 pm – 5:30 pm

Origami is the ancient Japanese art of paper folding. Origami has shown to help develop hand-eye coordination, fine motor skills and mental concentration. Use of the hands directly stimulates areas of the brain and is therapeutic. In this 8 week course, we will start with some easier projects and build our way up to some more complex designs even incorporating acrylic painting and collage making into our art work. La Dee Da is packed with exciting new ways for toddlers to elementary level children to play and learn about the arts. Our age-appropriate classes and camps come alive in an environment designed to be creatively stimulating and safe. Our small class sizes and experienced art educators will help your child get the most out of each session. Students will feel right at home in our laid-back atmosphere, perfect for getting to know other children and exploring the arts.

Art is a visual language that speaks to students with all learning styles, providing them the opportunity to create, problem solve, and think critically. Art education engages children more fully in all aspects of learning and gives them a richer understanding of themselves and the world around them. Open Studio

Designed especially for families and young children to come enjoy arts and crafts during non regimented classroom hours. Our open studio hours provide plenty of creativity and flexibility of projects. Children will have access to a wide range of inspiring materials and a variety of ways to explore them. From unlimited access to all the glitter, pom pom, sequins and more, children can choose from our creative menu of crafts available, or seasonally themed projects. Come create something special for a loved one or for yourself! Studio staff does not offer formal art instruction; we encourage creative thinking, provide gentle guidance and offer support as needed. Open studio is offered every Sunday from 2 pm – 5 pm, and ongoing during weekdays when classes are not in session. Please check online calendar as our schedule changes based on our class schedule. Studio is closed on Mondays. Open Studio cost is $10 per child which gives you access to all of our supplies, and from there on add a project of your choice. Projects costs vary from $5 – $35. Options include, ceramic painting, canvas painting, jewelry making, sensory activities, stuff & fluff, seasonally changing crafts and more!
